M1:2644 — یا محبت در درون شعله زند / زفت گردد وز اثر فارغ کند

这句诗是鲁米在探讨内在真实与外在表象关系时的一个高潮。在前面的诗句中，他区分了两种“醉”：一种是饮了真酒（代表真正的精神体验）后的沉醉，另一种是喝了酸奶（دوغ，dugh）后的假醉（代表伪装的虔诚）。伪善者通过祈祷、斋戒等外在行为（اثر，即“迹象”或“效果”）来模仿圣徒，希望别人认为他沉浸在对神的爱中。

Rumi contrasts those who perform actions (like fasting or prayer) to appear devout with those whose inner state of love (محبت) is so profound that it transcends the need for external validation or display. The 'fire' (شعله) of love within the heart grows 'swollen' (زفت) – meaning it becomes immense and self-sufficient. When love reaches this intensity, it becomes 'free from effect' (فارغ کند), implying it no longer relies on or even produces outward signs to prove its existence. Its reality is entirely internal and self-evident to the lover, requiring no 'announcement' (اعلام مهر) as mentioned in the following couplet. This speaks to the Sufi ideal of sincerity and the inner transformation that makes outward acts secondary to the state of the heart.
