M3:2172 — از همه نومید شد مسکین کیا / پس برآرد هر دو دست اندر دعا

This couplet describes the climax of a soul's despair on the Day of Judgment. In the preceding verses (M3:2167-2171), the soul, facing divine reckoning, first turns to the prophets for intercession, but they tell it to go away, saying its time for repentance has passed. Then it turns to its family and kin, who also reject it, telling it to answer for itself. Having been rebuffed by all earthly and even spiritual intermediaries, the 'wretched soul' (مسکین کیا - meskin kiyā) finds itself utterly alone and without any human or prophetic aid. This complete abandonment leads to a profound realization: there is no one left to turn to but God Himself. The act of raising both hands in prayer (برآرد هر دو دست اندر دعا - bar ārād har do dast andar doʿā) signifies a final, desperate, and direct supplication to the Divine, acknowledging God as the ultimate and sole refuge.
