M3:506 — افرحوا هونا بما آتاکم / کل آت مشغل الهاکم

This couplet is spoken by 'Reason' (عقل) from within, directly addressing the travelers who are joyfully rushing towards the village, anticipating material gains and comfort. The previous couplets (M3:498-503) describe their eager preparations and hopeful expectations of abundance from the village. However, Reason interjects with a stern warning (M3:504-505) that God does not love the 'rejoicers' (فرحین) in worldly things. This beyt reinforces that warning: any joy derived from 'what has come to you' (بما آتاکم), meaning any worldly gift or attainment, is fleeting and ultimately a distraction. The phrase 'مشغل الهاکم' means it will 'occupy and delude you,' drawing your attention away from the divine and trapping you in the ephemeral. Rumi is here laying the groundwork for a deeper Sufi teaching: true joy should stem from God alone, not from His creations or temporary provisions, which are likened to the 'winter month' (ماه دی) in contrast to the 'spring' (بهار) of the Beloved (M3:507).
