When a person surrenders their own perception and will to God, God becomes their faculties, freeing them from the anxieties of their own limited planning.
This couplet is the culmination of an argument about perception. Rumi has just urged the spiritual seeker to stop viewing the Beloved (God) through their own limited, subjective eyes. Instead, one should borrow the eyes of other lovers, or, in the ultimate step, borrow the eyes of the Beloved Himself to see Himself.
Here, God speaks, describing the result of this mystical union. When the seeker, the 'favored one' (muqbil), achieves this state, God becomes their very senses and volition—their 'eye, hand, and heart.' The consequence is liberation. The seeker is freed from madbirīhā—their own anxious, self-interested plans and contrivances. By ceasing to manage their own affairs and allowing God to perceive and act through them, they are saved from the suffering and misjudgment that comes from a limited, ego-driven perspective. This state of divine agency is the ultimate 'good fortune' alluded to in the story, where what seemed a disaster (being chased by the watchman) was in fact the path to union.
