M3:3577 — علت اولی نباشد دین او / علت جزوی ندارد کین او

This couplet describes the state of the 'reborn' individual, introduced in the previous verse (M3:3576), who has transcended the limitations of the physical body and its earthly concerns. Rumi contrasts the spiritual person's motivations with those driven by the 'body, which is earthly and base' (M3:3571). For the ordinary person, faith might be a reaction to a specific event or a means to an end (a 'primary cause'), and their dislikes (their 'enmity') might stem from superficial or 'partial causes' related to their physical experience or ego.

However, the 'reborn' individual operates from a place of spiritual wholeness. Their 'faith' (دین) is not a response to an initial stimulus or a calculated choice, but an inherent state of being, an 'unconditioned' faith that flows from their essence. Similarly, their 'enmity' (کین) – which here refers to their detachment from worldly desires and illusions – is not due to specific grievances or minor annoyances. Instead, it's a comprehensive rejection of anything that distracts from the Divine, arising from a profound understanding rather than a superficial reaction. This couplet emphasizes the purity and depth of spiritual motivation, free from the fragmented, conditional nature of the ego-driven self.
