M3:825 — که به بوی دل در آن می بسته‌اند / خم بادهٔ این جهان بشکسته‌اند

This couplet appears in the section discussing the story of Harut and Marut, and the dangers of worldly temptations, particularly the 'wine' of lust and power. Rumi contrasts the 'wine' of earthly desires with the 'wine' of divine love and spiritual intoxication. Those who have experienced even a 'scent' (بوی) of this heavenly wine – a profound spiritual insight or taste of divine presence – find their hearts (دل) irrevocably bound to it. This higher attraction causes them to 'shatter the jar of this world's vintage' (خم بادهٔ این جهان بشکسته‌اند), meaning they willingly renounce and break free from the intoxicating but ultimately superficial pleasures and attachments of the material world. Their focus shifts entirely from the transient to the eternal, from the physical to the spiritual, rendering worldly allurements utterly insignificant.
