مصراع اول، «ساعد شه مسکن این باز باد»، دعایی برای تداوم حضور حسامالدین است. «ساعد» یا ساعد دست، جایگاه نشستن باز شکاری است. مولانا آرزو میکند که این بازِ الهام، همیشه بر دست مراد و مشوق او، یعنی حسامالدین، قرار داشته باشد تا بتواند به سرودن ادامه دهد. این تصویر، هم رابطه عمیق مرید و مرادی و هم نقش حیاتی حسامالدین را در آفرینش مثنوی نشان میدهد.
مصراع دوم، «تا ابد بر خلق این در باز باد»، نتیجه و هدف این آرزوست. «این در» همان مثنوی است؛ دری که به روی باغ معانی و معارف الهی گشوده میشود. مولانا دعا میکند که با حضور حسامالدین، این جریان فیض قطع نشود و بابِ هدایت و معرفت برای همیشه به روی خلق گشوده بماند. این بیت بیانگر نیت اصلی مولانا از سرودن مثنوی است: نه یک اثر شخصی، بلکه یک راه و منبع رحمت برای همگان.
