شرح
این بیت پایانیِ داستان موش و قورباغه است، داستانی که مولانا آن را نه تنها برای بیان اهمیت پیوند میان دو موجود از دو عالم (خاک و آب)، بلکه برای تصویر کردن رابطهٔ پیچیدهٔ جان و تن به کار میبرد. تن ما، همچون موشی خاکی، با ریسمانی از نیازها و تعلقات، جان آبی و ملکوتی ما را به زمین میکشد. اما همین پیوند، همین «فن»، امکان تجربههای نقد را فراهم میآورد. جان، بیقرار پرواز و عیش در دریای ملکوت است، اما در کشاکش با تن، گویی به اجبار به زمین بازگردانده میشود تا وظایف خود را در این عالم خاکی به انجام رساند. مولانا به ما میآموزد که قدر «نقد این زمان» را بدانیم، زیرا حتی این وصل موقت و این حضور پر چالش، خود غنیمتی است در مسیر بازگشت به وطن اصلی و پیوستن نهایی جان به جانان.

Explanation
This couplet concludes the tale of the mouse and the frog, a story Maulana employs not merely to illustrate the significance of connection between two beings from disparate realms (earth and water), but profoundly, to depict the intricate relationship between the soul and the body. Our body, akin to the earthy mouse, pulls our watery, celestial soul earthward with a 'rope' of needs and attachments. Yet, this very connection, this 'device' (fan), facilitates the experience of immediate realities (naqd). The soul yearns for flight and bliss in the ocean of the spiritual realm, but in its struggle with the body, it is, as it were, forcibly drawn back to fulfill its duties in this physical world. Maulana teaches us to appreciate the 'present moment' (naqd-i īn zamān), for even this temporary union and challenging presence is a treasure on the path back to our true homeland and the ultimate reunion of the soul with the Beloved.
