The Sufi advises the servant in taking care of the animal, and the servant's 'There is no power nor strength save in God.'

A certain Sufi was journeying to the far horizon, until one night he became a guest at a Sufi lodge. This couplet introduces a travelling Sufi who, after wandering far and wide, stops for the night at a khānaqāh (a Sufi hospice or lodge).
He had a riding-beast, which he tied in the stable;he then sat at the head of the hall with his companions.A traveling Sufi secured his animal for the night in the stable of a Sufi lodge and then joined the other dervishes in the main hall for their evening gathering.
Then with his friends, he entered meditation,a book unrolled in the Friend’s present station. The Sufi and his companions began their silent, collective meditation, which for them is like an open book read in the presence of the divine Beloved.
The Sufi's book is not black ink on a page;it is nothing but a heart, white as snow. The Sufi's source of knowledge is not the written word or intellectual learning, but a purified heart upon which divine truths are directly reflected.
The scholar's provision is the works of the pen;what is the Sufi's? The traces of the foot. The scholar lives on knowledge derived from books and writing, but the Sufi's sustenance comes from following the footsteps of the spiritual masters who have walked the path.
Like a hunter who has gone out for his quarry,He sees the gazelle's tracks and follows the trail. The Sufi is like a hunter who, seeking his ultimate quarry (Truth), first finds and follows the physical traces left behind.
For a time, the tracks of the gazelle are his sustenance;after that, the gazelle's musk-gland itself is the guide. The spiritual seeker initially follows external signs and practices, but eventually, an inner, intuitive attraction to the divine reality becomes the guide.
Since he gave thanks for the footprint and cut the distance short,Inevitably, from that footstep, he arrived at his heart's desire.By gratefully following the initial, external signs of the path, the spiritual seeker inevitably reaches the ultimate goal they desire.
To travel one stage guided by the scent of muskis better than a hundred stages of footprints and circuits. In the spiritual journey, a single step taken with direct, intuitive knowledge is far more valuable than a hundred steps taken by following external rules and rituals alone.
That heart which is the rising-place of many moonsis, for the gnostic, the opening of all doors. The illuminated heart of a spiritual master is the source of divine light and the gateway to higher realities for those who can perceive it.
To you it is a wall, but to them it is a door;to you a stone, but to the cherished ones, a gem.The same spiritual reality that appears as an obstacle to an ordinary person is a gateway for the enlightened, who perceive its true, precious nature.
What you see clearly in a polished mirror, the Master sees in a clay brick—and far more. The spiritual master possesses a penetrating insight that allows them to perceive profound realities in the most ordinary things, a vision far exceeding what a normal person sees even with the clearest of aids.
The true Elders are those who existed when this world was not;their souls were already immersed in the Ocean of Generosity. The real spiritual masters, or Elders, are not merely human guides on earth; they are primordial spiritual realities whose souls existed before the creation of the physical universe.
Before this body, they had passed through lifetimes;before the sowing, they had gathered in the harvest. The true spiritual masters (pīrs) existed long before their physical birth and had already attained spiritual realization before engaging in the worldly efforts that normally precede it.
Before the soul was stamped with form, they had received it;Before the sea existed, they had strung its pearls. This couplet asserts that the great spiritual masters (the Pīrs) have a reality that precedes creation, possessing the essence of things even before their physical manifestation.
